TUBERCULOSIS & RESPIRATORY

Department of Respiratory Medicine

The department of Respiratory Medicine is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and research of respiratory and pulmonary diseases. Our department plays a critical role in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, providing students with a strong foundation in respiratory physiology, pathology, and clinical practice.

We offer comprehensive training in the management of a wide range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary infections such as tuberculosis, pleural diseases, and sleep-related breathing disorders. Our curriculum is designed to integrate evidence-based medicine with hands-on clinical experience, ensuring that students are well prepared for real-world challenges.

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, including pulmonary function testing (PFT), bronchoscopy and sleep study laboratories. We emphasize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, often working in collaboration with radiology, pathology and microbiology.

Our faculty are actively involved in research and academic development, regularly publishing in peer-reviewed journals and participating in national and international conferences. The department also conducts community outreach programs, raising awareness about lung health and preventive measures.

We strive to cultivate a culture of academic excellence, clinical skill, and compassionate care—developing future respiratory specialists who are not only skilled clinicians but also ethical and empathetic professionals.
